Lew Dobbins: Clarksburg Radio and Television Broadcasting Historian

The Man Behind the Microphone

Lew Dobbins, born in Lewis County, launched an impressive 47-year broadcasting career that began in high school. His first on-air moment came during his freshman year when he announced to his school the tragic passing of President John F. Kennedy.

Throughout his illustrious career in country music, radio, and television in North Central West Virginia, Lew conducted interviews with many internationally renowned figures. In 2008, his achievements earned him a place in the West Virginia Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

In 2017, Lew penned his autobiography, Behind the Microphone, which is available for purchase at the Clarksburg History Museum Gift Shop. His podcast captures his reflections on a storied career filled with memorable moments and milestones.
